Jumaah Mubarak..
=)
When I say "LONDON", what pops out in your mind?
London Bridge, Big Ben, The London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Tubes?
Haha, those words are in my mind too.
But let me share my great moments in London few days ago.
We had this "Amazing Da'wah Race" last weekend.
To be honest, we were not prepared for the game.
We didnt know where we are going and what are the tasks.
As for my group, our 1st checkpoint was London Eye..
Hey, it was my 1st time after 2 years in the UK!
=D
And the task was actually to tasmi' (let people listen to your hafazan) Ayat 30-38 of Surah Al-Fussilat.
Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised. (30) We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There ye will have (all) that your souls desire, and there ye will have (all) for which ye pray. (31) A gift of welcome from One Forgiving, Merciful. (32) And who is better in speech than him who prayeth unto his Lord and doeth right, and saith: Lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Him). (33) The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend. (34) But none is granted it save those who are steadfast, and none is granted it save the owner of great happiness. (35) And if a whisper from the devil reach thee (O Muhammad) then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is the Hearer, the Knower. (36) And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Adore not the sun nor the moon; but adore to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship. (37) But if they are too proud - still those who are with thy Lord glorify Him night and day, and tire not. (38)
However, it happened that we opened the wrong task, and we did the other task which says,
"Search for a non-muslim and ask about his/her misconception about islam" (mcm tu la lebih kurang)
I was like, is this for real?
But, hey, u keep on calling urself a dai'e (someone who calls people to islam), yet ur mouth is wide open when u received this task?
So we did the task, and alhamdulillah, our first respondent were very cooperative and responded well.
This young couple said that they think islam is downgrading the women.
We first thought that it's because of the hijaab.
But actually they don't like the fact that women in some muslim countries are not allowed to go to work and to further their study.
What say u?
After that we went to Trafalgar Square.
There were sooo many people because there was an event that I dont know what it is.
But we have to answer a question there.
"This is a well-known place. When islam rules, how can u utilize this place?
Make it up to 1 paragraph"
Hoho, we had our answers. What about u?
Our next stop was Royal Albert Hall, London..
There were not so many people there, yet the task was the interview with a non-muslim..
How hard could that be?
But, we were up to the challenge, and we started hunting..
Few people were interviewed with so many answers.
There was one French couple, they said they don't believe in God.
So they said that everyone have their right to do anything.
There's also one old Christian couple which said that as Christians, the didn't bother to know about islam.
Another answer from an old lady was "I think islam is peaceful. It's only that some people go beyond their teachings. Islam also means Pakistan, Afghanistan....."
Ok, i like the first 2 points, but the 3rd one, urmm.. didn't managed to correct that misconception (it ia a misconception right, because islam is everywhere, not just in those countries) because she was in a hurry.
Also few others, like, "Islam is a religion. It's a culture. etc"...
And our last checkpoint was the Malaysian Hall !
Remind me of my first time coming to the UK.
Stranded in London, and slept in MSD for one night.
Here, we were to answer 5 questions about the qualities needed in a muslim youth.
Not to forget,
That night, I went to a dinner in celebrating MAB's (Muslim Association Britain)'s 15th anniversary..
They were also celebrating the victory in Egypt.
There goes my weekend in London.
It was very informative, challenging and fun!
I hope this summer break will give me something good and beneficial.
*Hey, u go search for the goodness. It wouldn't come to u just like that!*
Okay2.. -.-
Till then..
2 Weeks to Ramadhan.
Can't wait, yet how prepared are we?
=)
